after sewing for swaps for the past two weekends I decided to catch up with my craftsy bom blocks this weekend - the last blocks I did were in February !
I've still got three blocks to do that I'm leaving until the end - the March blocks are a strip block and a spiderweb block so I'll use my leftover scraps. I also haven't done one of the May blocks which is a wonky 5 sided log cabin - again I'm leaving that until last so that I can use my leftovers.
I mainly followed the instructions except for block 8 for April which was a hexy block that I wasn't that keen on so I did a hexy flower instead - I've sewn the flower together - just need to applique to the background.
The hexy stripe block 7 is half finished as well - I just need to sew the hexys together and applique to the block.
Blocks 13 and 14 - the dresden blocks were such fun to do - Amy uses an interesting technique - she sews a background fabric to the back of the wheels around the edge and then turns the fabrics through - I haven't heard of that way of doing them before so I might look into that a bit further before I sew them to the background !
I'm also thinking of redoing the double star block as I'm not sure the centre star stands out enough - maybe I could use this one for a cushion !
I really love the ohio star block - I think its one of my favourite star blocks !
