friday already !

can't believe its Friday already - where did the week go ? thankfully I managed to get a little bit of sewing in as it wizzed by !

the february craftsy bom blocks - really like all the blocks we've done.

balkan puzzle
chunky chevron
I'm going to leave the march blocks until towards the end as they are both strip blocks and that way I can use the scraps from the fabric I'm using !

I also finally got the January Modern bom blocks done as well !

and forgot to show you my finished design camp 2 february block which I also loved doing :)

its on its way to the USA - hope it doesn't take too long to arrive at Leona's house !

it stopped raining for a few days earlier in the week but apparently its set to rain all weekend again so looks like I should be able to get some quality sewing time in - yay - hope you have a great weekend wherever you are :)

weekend sewing

well - first up I've finally finished my wonky house swap blocks - yay - they'll be sent off the USA tomorrow and hope they get there by the deadline of 1 March !

I ended up changing the colour of the portholes on the boathouse block - I'm happier with this one.

and I finished blocks 11 and 12 today

a few weeks ago my mum suggested a crooked chimney so I did that on the last one :)

While I'm really glad they're finally all done its going to be really hard to send them off - I loved doing them and love how they all turned out - and although they were very time consuming I learnt heaps - I've only done improv piecing once before and I'd never done curved piecing so I'm looking forward to finding more projects with those elements.

I also managed to make my December Modern BOM blocks which used paper piecing to give perspective - another great block from Alissa.

and I got the February care at do.good stitches blocks done so I can post those next week as well.

I love star blocks and doing flying geese so I really enjoyed doing these two and the bonus is that I have the scraps from the geese to make into half square triangles so I played around with those as well - I'm still thinking about what I'll do with them but I had fun arranging them in different ways on my design wall :)

so that's my weekend sewing ... back to work tomorrow so I'd better get off to sleep !

hope you got some great sewing in this weekend as well :)

november modern bom

november's modern bom block is finally available on the sew mama sew blog - I was so excited that it was finally available I cut it out and sewed it up last night - I'm really loving the modern BOM blocks - thanks Alissa :)

I also finished uber-fest block 15 which was the block done by Emily of Carolina Patchworks called hills and valleys - it turned out really well- I think since doing these uber-fest blocks I've discovered I love half square triangles and flying geese.

november blogger's bom finishes

finished all three of the november blogger's bom blocks last night

as well as the second August modern bom block - soooo glad this little baby is done :)

improv piecing

on the weekend I made the august improv block from the modern block of the month - it certainly took a little bit of time and of course I'm sure I mucked up the instructions a bit but got it finished which is the main thing - yes, I still need to do the second one ...

and I finished sewing together the square one l'amour quilt top and now just need to put the border on - I also sewed more blocks together on the postage stamp quilt - so hopefully I'll get both these tops finished this week (I'm sure I took photos but can't seem to find them now !)

I turned the radio on during the power outage yesterday so I would know exactly when the power was back on and headed straight for the sewing room - it wasn't that bad during the outage and I did get the November Blogger's BOM blocks cut out so they were ready to sew - nearly finished the three of them - just have to sew them together tonight.

21 November 2011

a couple more modern bom blocks

nearly up to date with the modern bom ...

this weekend completed september
and october
just need to finish the august block which is improv piecing that I haven't done before but I'm going to attempt it tonight !

also made a wall hanging from the aunty cookie home sweet home fabric I recently received - purchased an inexpensive canvas frame last week and stapled fabric to the back - looks great on the wall

hope you had a fabulous weekend :)

do. good stitches

I'm so excited - I've been accepted to join the do. Good Stitches {a Charity bee}- yay ! I'm looking forwarded to starting early next year - and also this week I joined the toy society - so I'll definately be stitching with a bigger purpose now !

so I've finished block 12 of the blogger's quilt-uber-fest and I've unpicked the block 11 - I've also decided to get a fat 1/4 of each of the Drop Cloth in Plum and Innocent Crush in Plum so I can finish off blocks 13 to 16 and I might even have enough to do the extra block 17.

I've also finished the first block in the Modern Block of the Month being hosted by Sew Mama Sew and hope to get the others done this weekend - I'm doing two of each month's blocks :)

14 November 2011

weekend sewing

I finished block 11 of the Blogger's Quilt-Uber-Fest on Saturday - I have the pieces cut out for block 12 but then I'm down to mostly scraps and struggling for blocks 13 - 16 !

I might try and get a couple of fat quarters to finish the last blocks but for the moment I've put them away to think about it - after a week of non-stop uber-fest block making I need a change ! oh, and after seeing this photo - eeek - I think I need to redo the middle row !

I also started sewing my postage stamp quilt blocks together...it was a big chain sewing session yesterday with 72 blocks !

then I thought I'd better get a move on with the Sew Mama Sew Modern BOM - I'd like to get up to date before the November block is out...this is the July block - ready to be sewn (i ♥ this colour combination)

so that was my weekend of sewing...hope you got some sewing in as well :)

more ghastlies fabric

My final order of The Ghastlies fabric arrived today - just in the nick of time...

I also received the backing fabric for my Kate's Stack and Slash quilt and the orange spot is one of the fabrics I'm going to use for the Modern BOM quilt along.

fabric for modern block of the month sew along

I've finally decided on the fabric for the Sew Mama Sew Modern BOM.
After putting together the stack and slash quilt I fell in love with Pat Bravo's bohemian soul lace in gold and I loved the orange polka dot in that quilt as well - just needed one more fabric.

I had a look at the fabrics in my Fat Quarter Shop Blogger's fat quarter bundles and I liked one in the bundle that John from Quiltdad put together so I looked up the name and its another fabric from Pat Bravo - nature elements in ocean breeze.  I'll use Kona Snow for the background fabric.

I've put in my fabric order but the lace in gold is on backorder so may take a little while - lucky its a year long block of the month !
